Fortunately, there are good tips for vacationing with the whole family.
1) Timing is everything
If you must travel during the holiday season, book as early as possible, at least two to three months in advance.
2) Take advantage of your parents\’ personal connections
During childhood, you will often have your first contact with other parents in kindergarten and school. In doing so, they are exposed to a wealth of experiences. Ask other moms and dads what vacations they have spent and what they would do now to save money.
3) Avoid peak season
Venice, Barcelona, Mallorca: Vacation destinations like these are very popular and crowded during peak season. This is not only tiring, but also expensive. Look for less popular places. Your nerves and children will thank you. And they will be more adventurous!
4) Seek adventure!
Traveling by long-distance bus, caravan, or private car, sleeping in a campground, cooking canned soup over an open fire–all these things not only save you money, but are much more interesting than sitting at a prepared table in a hotel.
5) Stay in an apartment
Hotels are nice, but apartments are more practical and much cheaper. You can cook your own food (or keep pizza in the freezer), everyone can share their opinions, and you may get in touch with neighbors who can give you great tips. Many hotels also offer family rooms.
6) There is nothing to do but go out!
Fortunately, the most beautiful thing in the world – nature – is free. Go to the forest instead of the zoo, to the playground instead of mini-golf, to the beach instead of the pool, and eat a delicious picnic from the supermarket.
7) Take advantage of family discounts
Family discounts are worth searching online.
8) Minimize Unexpected Expenses
The biggest expense is the one you did not anticipate. These include the purchase of various trinkets for the children and the purchase of various ice cream and other goodies. For example, it is better to take a water bottle to the grocery store to buy ice cream than to the town square, the main street for tourists.
9) Change your travel habits
Stay home and explore the local area, visit old friends, and take one long trip rather than several short ones. Doing so can also significantly reduce travel costs.
10) Decide what you want
For example, if a trip to the beach is not possible, it is wise to consider what you really need when traveling as a family. Children are typically less demanding. Sometimes a lake to swim in or a stable Wi-Fi network is enough, and the feeling of being able to explore the world with the whole family is definitely enough for you.
